Yard Drainage Solutions in the Twin Cities

Standing water is more than an annoyance

Pooling water kills grass and plants, breeds mosquitoes, and โ€” worst of all โ€” works its way toward your foundation and basement. Minnesota's freeze-thaw makes it worse as water expands in the soil.

How we fix it

  • French drains & drain tile to intercept and carry water away.
  • Regrading so the ground slopes away from your home.
  • Downspout extensions & dry wells to manage roof runoff.
  • Drainage built into hardscape when we install patios and walls.

Diagnosed, then solved

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fix a soggy yard in Minnesota?
The fix depends on the cause: regrading to slope water away from the house, a French drain to intercept subsurface water, downspout extensions for roof runoff, or a dry well to hold and disperse water. We diagnose the source first, then build the right solution.
How much does a French drain cost?
French drain cost varies with length, depth, and access, but most residential drainage projects in the Twin Cities run from a few hundred dollars for simple downspout work up to several thousand for full French drain systems. We provide a written estimate.
Why does my yard flood after it rains?
Usually because the ground slopes toward the house, the soil is compacted clay that drains slowly, or downspouts dump water in low spots. Freeze-thaw and Minnesota's clay soils make pooling worse. Regrading and drainage tile typically solve it.
